Air Force taps 33 companies for $980M automatic test systems contract
The pool of companies will compete for task orders to provide computer-controlled diagnostic equipment to test military aircraft and weapons systems.
Thirty-three companies won spots on a $980 million contract to support Air Force development, acquisition and sustainment efforts by providing automatic test systems.
Known as ATS, these are computer-controlled systems that test and diagnose electronic systems and components on military aircraft and weapon systems.
The Air Force will use this contract vehicle to rapidly acquire and deploy the equipment. Aircraft to be supported include fighters, bombers, cargo and tanker aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and specialized platforms such as helicopters, according to solicitation documents.

The contract vehicle can also support foreign military sales requirements.
An ATS has three elements:
- Test software that runs diagnostic routines to evaluate whether electronic components and systems are functioning properly.
- Hardware interfaces that connect the test system to the aircraft components being tested.
- A controlled test environment with standardized procedures and infrastructure to ensure consistent, reliable testing.
The contract runs for 10 years with options, starting on Sept. 18, 2025, and running through Sept. 18, 2035.
The Air Force picked the thirty-three winners from a pool of 38 bidders. The winning companies will compete for task orders.
