Arlington Capital reveals its new defense tech company

The same investment firm that is selling BlueHalo to AeroVironment is now ready to showcase GRVTY, a specialist in geospatial and signals intelligence.

Arlington Capital Partners has taken the covers off of its new defense technology company amid the private equity firm’s work to complete the sale of another to a publicly-traded buyer.

GRVTY is like other prior Arlington-backed contractors, in that it is almost exclusively focused on defense and intelligence agencies. This new company revealed Wednesday describes geospatial intelligence, signals intelligence and cybersecurity as among its core technology focus areas.

Katie Selbe is chief executive of GRVTY, which touts a workforce of 325 people across 11 states and $100 million in annual revenue. She is the former chief operating officer of Eqlipse Technologies and BlueHalo, two of Arlington portfolio companies that joined forces in the spring of 2024.

AeroVironment is in the process of acquiring BlueHalo for $4.1 billion in stock, a move announced in November. BlueHalo got the attention of its buyer from having footprints in market areas like space, uncrewed systems, directed energy, artificial intelligence and electronic warfare.

No firm details were available on how GRVTY originated, but a company spokesperson told us it "has been building in stealth since last summer."

In looking at GRVTY’s website, the company identifies automated intelligence for targeting platforms as a tech priority. GRVTY also will provide other software and data offerings to help national security agencies with their mission challenges.

Like other Arlington-backed companies, GRVTY will look at acquiring other businesses as part of its growth strategy. The spokesperson cited “mission-capable AI, software, platforms, and other emerging technology” as areas of interest for acquisitions to build out a portfolio in ISR&T systems (intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance).

“GRVTY was created to deliver American dominance from outer space to cyberspace, and I look forward to delivering critical situational awareness to support our customers’ national security missions,” Selbe said in a release.

Selbe is joined on the GRVTY leadership team by Sarah Otchet, who is its chief financial officer following prior CFO stints at BlueHalo and Eqlipse.
