Space officials to take stage in Washington on Aug. 28

Space policies, investment and advancements will be on the docket for discussion.

In case you’ve been living under a rock – or on Mars – activity in the space industry has ramped up in recent years. A recent report from World Economic Forum estimates today’s space economy, currently valued around $630 billion, will grow 9% year over year in the next decade to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035.

That growth will be driven largely by space-based and space-enabled technologies, including communications, global positionings systems, navigation and satellite observation services and more.

For the U.S. government, the above advancements will have a critical impact on everything from climate monitoring and disaster response to exploring the cosmos, budding space tourism and ensuring national security at home, abroad and in space.

On Aug. 28, the GovExec Space Project will convene current and former U.S. space officials and industry experts at an event to discuss space policies, advancements and investments and more.

Speakers include:

Dr. John Plumb, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy
Kelvin Coleman, Associate Administrator for Commercial Space Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration
Akash Vangani , Deputy Chief Engineer, NASA
