Army unveils second solicitation for $4B in R&D recompetes

The Army has opened the window for industry to start working on and submitting their bids for the recompete of part of a contract vehicle used to acquire broad research-and-development services.

Proposals for the Design, Development, Demonstration and Integration II Domain 1 contract are due to the Army by Oct. 15.

A maximum of five companies will be selected for an award on this vehicle focused on space and missile defense R&D work, the Army said in a Wednesday notice to release the final solicitation.

D3I2 Domain 1 will have a $2.57 billion ceiling over up to 10 years and is the unrestricted track of this program alongside Domain 2, the potential $2.05 billion portion reserved for small businesses. Bids for Domain 2 were due on March 4.

The Army's Space and Missile Defense Command uses this overall procurement to acquire information integration, data exploitation and other warfighter capabilities that aid in the development of solutions for global space, missile defense and high-altitude missions.

Army leaders have also set up the contract as a way to support U.S. Northern Command, Southern Command, Strategic Command, other service branches and fellow government agencies.
